"I can't believe it, Chris. I actually bought a motorbike,"
Joe's message flashed across my screen.
It was one of those moments that I will remember forever.
A symbol of all the hard work that led up to this point.
Six months earlier, Joe was at the very beginning of his teaching journey.
He felt overwhelmed and unsure of himself, often wondering if he had what it took to succeed.
He had a goal: to find his own students, to leave behind the uncertainty of platforms that took away control, and to start building something truly his own. But starting wasn't easy. He didn't know exactly where or how to begin.
Joe needed someone to stand by him. That's where our work together began. We started by defining his ideal student—who they were, where they lived, and what they needed most from a teacher like Joe.
Joe kept showing up, working through the challenges and finding his own way to shine.
1. Finding His Ideal Student
Slowly but surely, Joe started to figure out what worked for him.
He tried appealing to everyone, which left him feeling scattered and unsure of his approach.
We began by defining his ideal student—someone who was busy, needed flexibility, and wanted to learn in an engaging way. Joe experimented with different types of content, sharing mini lessons about British slang and cultural nuances. This focus on the right audience helped him connect with students who truly needed what he had to offer.
2. Creating Content that Connects
The videos took time to create, and sometimes the results didn't show up right away.
Then, Joe started getting messages, students lined up for trial lessons, and, before long, he had a fully booked schedule. He felt an incredible sense of relief and excitement.
3. Building Systems for Success
One message he sent me said it all: "Chris, everything is going great. I bought a new motorbike. I can look forward to Christmas."
That was the moment I knew he'd reached his goal.
Joe was no longer just trying to make things work—he was thriving.
It reminds me of the journey we all go through as entrepreneurs. You start with a vision that feels impossible, you struggle, you doubt, and you push forward anyway.
If you're in that beginning place—wondering if you can make it work, feeling unsure about where to start—know that it's okay.
Everyone starts there.
Joe started there.
I started there.
And now, Joe is riding his motorbike into a well-earned future he's built for himself.
No one does this alone, and I want to remind you that you don't have to either.
So if you're working towards something, share it with me. Let's celebrate every step of the journey together—because it's those small, steady steps that lead to big wins like Joe's.
